Lyndonville Yates Food Emergency
We are a community pantry in conjunction with Foodlink and supported by local organizations and our individual congregations. The pantry, located in the Lyndonville Presbyterian Church, serves area families and provides a full array from meat and dairy to vegetables, nonperishable and hygiene products. It is manned by volunteer staff and is open Tuesday – Thursday, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.

Ecumenical collaboration among the Lyndonville United Methodist Church, Yates Baptist Church, Lyndonville Presbyterian Church, St. Joseph Catholic Church, and St. John’s Lutheran Church. Refer to church calendar and facebook posts for dates of delivery. The truck arrives around 8AM.
At Christmas we pack between 75-80 Christmas food baskets. Volunteers from our congregations help to pack and distribute locally. All the LYMA congregations donate canned goods, cereal, coffee, and other non perishables. Each family receives a turkey or whole chicken, vegetables, eggs, etc., as well as Christmas gifts to wrap and put under their trees.
Dee and Laura dedicate their lives to operating this pantry. It is a calling for these women.

Cancer Ministry
Elder Beth Smith felt the call to begin a cancer ministry at LPC. She started with our cancer prayer box which has morphed into a hope and wellness tree and has grown to include other aspects. We pray against cancer every evening at 9:00 pm.
Every Sunday we pray against cancer and pray for all the people whose names have been added to our hope and wellness tree. If you or a family member has cancer, we have Pray Against Cancer buttons to go on your lapel.
We also collect items to fill cancer care totes. These bags are distributed through Knights Kaderli to people undergoing chemotherapy. We retain some bags here at the church to distribute where we realize there is need. A list of items we always collect for creating the bags is listed under the Cancer Care Totes tab. Each tote receives a prayer shawl knitted by our Knitter Ladies Group.
When we are aware of anyone who has recently received a cancer diagnosis, we gift them with Cancer Now What? published by Stephens Ministries. The goal of the book and our ministry is to help those with cancer and their loved ones navigate the medical, emotional, relational, and spiritual challenges that cancer brings. This resource has chapters that cover all of these topics from how to gather information, how to talk to your physician, how to deal with questions and fears, how to be support etc. It is based on research and personal experience.
